Drug Reform
Governments in all jurisdictions have enacted, or are in the process of enacting, sweeping drug reforms in order to help manage health care expenditures.
As the only national organization focused on the business of community pharmacy in all jurisdictions, CACDS is uniquely positioned, experienced and equipped to advocate with government for responsible reforms.
In provinces – Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta – wherein drug reforms have already significantly cut traditional pharmacy funding, CACDS is, partnering with local professional pharmacy associations to measure impacts and gauge results.
In other jurisdictions, CACDS is actively engaged with government (either through direct negotiations or as advisors to Provincial Professional Associations), advocating for reforms that allow governments to achieve their goals while keeping the business of pharmacy economically viable.
