Natural Health Product Regulation
On August 18, the Natural Health Products (Unprocessed Product License Applications) Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette. The Regulations will temporarily permit natural health products, for which a product license application has been filed with Health Canada but for which a decision to issue or refuse a license has not been made, to be sold.

NAPRA has updated their position with respect to the sale of Non-Approved Natural Health Products. Products without a DIN/NPN/DIN-HM, which were previously banned from sale in pharmacies, have been granted new status under specific terms. These terms include:
- Products may be assigned an Exemption Number (EN) from Health Canada (HC) indicating that they can be legally sold in pharmacies while they are under review for an official DIN/NPN/DIN-HM.
- EN indicates that an initial assessment has been made by HC to ensure that information supporting the safety, efficacy and quality of the product has been submitted to HC, and specific safety criteria have been met during the ongoing review.
- This regulation will be in effect from August 4, 2010 through February 2013.
